Association History

You have to know where you’ve been to know where you are going. Kappa holds a special place in its heart for Fraternity history, but every association of our organization has unique beginnings of its own. Each plays a part in shaping us today and continuing the Kappa tradition beyond college.

The Cleveland Alumnae Association was founded in 1901 by a group of women with the desire to expand the Kappa sisterhood beyond college into a lifetime in the Greater Cleveland area.

The ladies held the first meeting of the association in November of 1901, and received the charter and official recognition from the Fraternity just a few weeks later. In 1939, the West Shore Association was founded and continued until 2003 when it merged with the rest of the Cleveland group.

For over 115 years, we have strived to connect with Kappas to continue the tradition of leadership, philanthropy and friendship. Our association has seen many changes over the years, but we have and will continue to be a proud member of the Cleveland community.
